Wisdom

The owl represents wisdom and the butterfly represents change and growth. Personal growth is important. Also important, taking authority over your thoughts, your words, and your life. Stay in His word and listen to positive words for a positive life. I always enjoy Joyce Meyer and her teaching.

Revelation says those who read the book will receive a blessing. While reading this verse I could envision jewels. God has special things in store for those who stand firm in His word and walk by faith.

How I Created my Bible Art Journaling of Philippians

How I Created my Bible Art Journaling of Philippians

How I created my bible art journaling of Philippians.

A study in Philippians; To Live Is Christ

As I read this bible study I enjoyed using pens, washi tape, and my new paper tags that I made flip with bible verse on them.

This first page I made a bible art journal entry full of fun doodles and artwork. I made fun doodles circle the main verses that stuck out to me when I was reading.

The tag reads “…for I know that through your prayers and the help of the spirit of Jesus Christ bus I’ll turn out for my deliverance, …whatever by life or by death, for me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:19,20 ESV

The verses I wrote on the tag are paraphrased from the verses I encircled in the picture. Just a fun way to make it stand out and more than once. Also a good way to remember how I felt God speak to my heart in this journaling entry.

The flip side says;
“Do all things without grumbling or dispute, that you may be blameless and innocent children of God. Phil. 2:14,15

Again, just a fun way to incorporate bible verses that stuck out to me in my bible study or quiet time into my art journaling. And this verse is also encircled on the second page.

Notice at the top of the second page I have some fun notecards inserted from Heidi Swapp. My husband said my pages here look like my planner. Well it kind of does but it sure was fun doing it.

The very last page of my Philippian bible journal study includes Paul thanking the people. He thanked the women for their help in sharing the gospel. I enjoyed drawing these little ladies in pen and markers and coloring on the page with colored pencil. I also added some more Heidi Swapp notes on the page for fun. I included part of verse 4:3 to go along with the ladies I drew, “bless these women, who have labored side by side with me in the gospel.” Phil. 4:3 (ESV)

In the center I cut my own paper to fit perfect for three cutouts and to add additional bible verses and more color to my entry.
These verses read;
1. “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.” Phil. 4:13
2. “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit Amen” Phil. 4:23
3. And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:19
I hope my bible art journing inspires you to design and creste entires for your journaling! Be blessed! ❤️

Joy In Serving

Joy In Serving

Part 2; Philippians 2, A study of Philippians

then to make my joy complete by being like minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and one in mind.

Philippians 2:2

This is the first bible journal entry in the front of my bible. It is my favorite because Jesus is represented as a lion, The King. It is a very detailed zentangle bible art journal entry, which I also love. I also included my favorite verse which says,

Be still and know I am God.

Psalm 46:10

This seems like a good way to start the second part of Philippians because we are a work in progress and many times we do need to wait on him. It takes patience to have a finished work and since he will never be finished with us as long as we are human and breath air it seems fitting to share this verse.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vein conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others.

Philippians 2:3,4

TRUTH

It’s easy to find ourselves wanting to impress others in making a situation about ourselves in vein conceit or out of our own selfish ambition. However, this verse warns against that.

In verses 3 and 4 Paul suggests we do things with humility, without being selfish or doing it in vein. Instead of doing something with our own interest in mind we should put value on others with their interest in mind. There is nothing that suggests this is easy but it will be worth it. The gift we receive from being humble and selfless is far greater than what we reap from being vain or by being selfish. Philippians 2:2 says our joy will be complete; complete in being humble.

  • Selfish ambition = greed or to desire anything more than it’s needed.
  • Vain conceit = pride (false pride), inflated pride in oneself or in appearance, or a desire to be seen by others as more than you see yourself. An extreme desire to “fit in” “conform” or impress others. It takes a secure person (secure in Christ) to stand apart.
  • Both selfishness and being vain are fleshly desires that derive from insecurity and not being happy with oneself. Both result from worldly desires or to conform to be like the world.

TRUTH

If we desired the things God wanted, which is to be loved and to love one another we would eliminate out selfish desires replacing these sins with love and a deeper understanding for other persons needs. Once these needs are met we see a pure love that comes from conforming to Him rather than to the desires of the world. We trade in earthly desires (selfish ambition = greed, vain conceit = pride) for eternal desires (to love another person more than ourselves. Phil 2:2) thus making our joy complete.

In your relationship with one another have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant… He humbled himself…

Philippians 2:5-8

  • Humility = modest, a clear perspective of oneself, to think of others before yourself regardless of circumstances.
  • Humility for Jesus was being beat, spat on, humiliated, nailed to a cross for a painful death, and defeated hell and the enemy so we may have an inheritance to the throne here on earth as well as in heaven. (Yes I said an inheritance on earth, in the here and now, another lesson entirely, but worth of a quick note. Jesus defeated greed and pride so we can be free of these and have joy in their place making it possible to love those we find difficult to love, summing up the whole lesson.)
  • To walk in humility you must first recognize the authority Christ has given you in your inheritance through his death and resurrection. The enemy has already been defeated. It is finished. Praise God!
  • Remember that wisdom is the beginning of understanding our inheritance and knowing how to receive the free gift of joy.

Wisdom… More profitable than silver. More precious than rubies

Proverbs 3:13-15

Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God” …then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.

Philippians 2:14,15

  • There is great power in our words. The bible says the power of life and death is in the tongue. We can build a person up or tear them down with words.
  • As you do things in your daily routine do it to the glory of God. Represent him in everything you do and say and you will experience joy with the absence of complaining. Do it with a smile and shine before men.
  • Put your Jesus on with a christ-like mindset and experience life in its fullness with an inheritance you were intended to have, one full of joy.
