Remember to be true to yourself. Remember to keep realistic expectations of yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others expectations of you.
It’s okay to say no. It’s okay to say no to someone you love. It’s okay to say no to a friend. ..
… you don’t ever have to settle for something or someone that doesn’t feel right. And you definitely don’t have to compromise yourself for the sake of making other people happy. You have to take care of yourself, and if that means saying no, it’s more than okay.
Unique each in its own way.
I’ve found in my art that each journal spread is so different from day to day. It all depends on the pain level I experience and my mood specific to that day. I love to look back through my art journals and reflect the way I felt while creating each journal spread.
One thing I have learned is on the days I feel depressed or like I don’t want to journal it helps to find a positive quote and meditate on a bible verse or something positive. I also enjoy reflecting back on colorful journal spreads.
Sometimes I journal about a good memory from childhood or my children. It’s always better to look back through journal spreads from the days I felt pain mental or physical and see something posi it rather than negative. What is your favorite things to find in your art journals? Do you like to look though your old journals and artwork?
No one is me. That’s my super power.

Have healthy EI and self respect. Respond don’t react and set boundaries. Boundaries are the foundation of what you will and won’t allow in relationships and your own life. Be careful to set clear boundaries from the beginning not allowing anyone to push you in a direction you don’t feel comfortable going. What you allow in your life is what will continue.

Journaling and art
What are yours?
Sunday doodles and messy chaos.
From one of my older art journals back in 2016 is this journal spread full of doodles and writing. Not about anything particularly. Just rambles and doodles. A way of releasing stress and promoting positivity and creativity.
I think one of the bravest and boldest things in the world is when someone loves blindly without fear of rejection.
Keep a journal for writing, for art, for everything that makes you happy. Life is meant to be enjoyed.

Summertime and front porch sitting.
This is one of my older journal spreads but I made it thinking of summer around the corner and anticipating sitting on the front porch. I love a porch with a porch swing and hanging plants. I love to hang my succulent plants once the weather changes. I have donkey tail and banana succulent plants. I also love hanging my airplane plants. They are so pretty hanging.
Today we’re headed to magnolia market for a day of adulting at the equivalent to adult Disney world! That’s what made me think to post this post since one side of the spread includes colorful decorating ideas. I love stacks of blankets and comfy homes. I can’t wait to see Joanna and chip Gaines store. I love their style and I love the way they get along on their show.
I thank god for my family and my husband.

Lists spark creativity Making lists in my art journals are similar to doing a brain dump for me. It helps me get stuff off my mind and sparks an idea for creating something else.
An artist journal is a journal kept by an artist as a visual of her thoughts and ideas. Art journals generally combine visual journaling and writing to create finished pages. Every immeasurable style is used by art journalists. [from mixed media club]
Writing from church in my moleskine. I actually write this last year but I’m just now posting it. I took notes from my most favorite all time pastor, Pastor Al and church at Living Word Outreach Ministries.
Asian fest 2017
We attended Asian fest last year with my daughter and loved learning about new foods and about other peoples. There were so many different foods to try. I could only try the foods that weren’t spicy since radiation has left my mouth sensitive but the foods I tried I loved. I personally loved the bean filled desserts. I love learning about other people. My marriage is mixed and I love all of our differences. I wish other people could also find the joys in others as well. How boring the world would be if we were all the same and we didn’t have new opinions or foods to try. What is your favorite food? Your favorite place? Or culture? I think I love tropical places the most!
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. FDR
While studying the history of the Great Depression and dealing with anxiety resulting from chronic pain I made these journal pages a couple years ago. This was one of my favorite and mostly because the older I get the more I love history. I think history is a very important part of our lives. It’s important we don’t allow the most tragic of histories events repeat themselves. The best way of preventing those events are through studying and wisdom of those events. What is your favorite thing to study or learn about? I also love learning about other cultures, races, and peoples. The world is such an interesting place and so are it’s people.
Writing about personal things. Funny story. We have a cat named Cheeto and he tries to hide in tissue boxes and gets his head stuck. He moves really slow like a sloth and when we hold him he’s really stiff like a board. The best story however, is the story about my superhero. I dream about him most night. I have nightmares a lot because of trauma and ptsd from cancer and childhood traumas. He rescues me in these nightmares. The best part is the way he loves me in real life. He’s my best friend and I’m so thankful for him.
Here is a flip through for your inspiration.
Sharing ideas and inspiration for other artists who enjoy doodling, writing, and creating in journals. These are some of my favorite. a couple of these are the same. I didn’t realize I included identical spreads when I made the photos I’m sharing them anyway because there’s a lot of fun ideas worth sharing with other artists.

More Of Him
Seven is a perfect number. The Bible uses the number seven numerous times through the Bible. It is Gods number and God is perfect.
We can’t fully devote our hearts to God and keep our mind and body for our own purposes and desires. Sometimes I enjoy using my art journal as a journal to document my faith and stages or seasons in my walk.
These are some of my newly finished art journal spreads. It’s my first time using an app to make a flip through of my art journal. I’m sure there are easier ways and if you know of them, please share!
I always love watching other artists flip through their art journals. This isn’t my whole journal but almost half. I’ll share the pages individually in time too. There’s too many to share in the same day, which makes a video perfect!

Bible study; part 1; Philippians 1, a study of Philippians 1
Bible verse: For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. Phil. 1:21
- Written by Paul
- A letter to the church of Philippians.
- Paul wanted to share joy can be found despite our circumstances.
- Philippeans is a warning about trials and teaches humility.
Saints are those who believe in Christ. When Paul is writing to the saints he is writing to those who helped start the Philippean church. However, since we are believers in Christ this term also relates to us. We are the saints who spread the gospel of Christ.
Grace and peace are free gifts from God and readily available to us, especially in a time of need.
It’s easy for us to see the faults of our children. How frustrating can it be when we give our child a gift and he/she doesn’t appreciate it. We fail to appreciate these two priceless gifts from God. In fact, many times we ignore them and resort to secular world gifts to find comfort in our sufferings. How many times do we seek comfort through things of monetary value rather than seek what our heart truly yearns for, inner peace and joy from God? What good are secular world things without joy or peace to enjoy them? Instead, we are clouded by things and stuff the world find valuable. I am not saying it’s not okay to have things but anything that we value before God is an idol. Thus making its value of very little to us knowing it isn’t eternal.
He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
- God isn’t finished with me yet. He’s not finished with us until we are with Him again. As long as I live on earth He will continue to work in my heart, my spirit, and my soul.
- Gods work began in us the first day we believed in Him. The Holy Spirit guides us, speaks to our hearts, and through His word teaches us His knowledge in His great blessings of peace and joy and all free gifts and works available though Him.
” And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ -to the glory and praise of God.
Is there someone in your life you find it hard to forgive or deal with? Or a loved one, that no matter how many times you’ve told them they are on the wrong path they refuse to listen and you worry for them? Do you wish better for that person? The bible tells us to forgive and warns against worry. In fact, it suggests we allow tomorrow to worry for itself. Worry causes illness, stress, and a list of things God doesn’t intend for you. Sometimes the last thing we think to do is pray for that person and it is the first thing we should do. Seeking God for that person saves worry and heartache. Many times we can’t influence a person yet God is fully capable of changing a person’s heart. All too often we allow human emotion to hinder our prayer life. Next time instead of worrying seek God for the change you are seeking for yourself or another person. If you are finding it hard to forgive another person seek God for help in forgiving. God can change our heart. The bible says you do not have because you haven’t asked.
- Remember to pray and seek God for what you need.
- Remember to pray for others needs.
- Pray for discernment as Paul did for the church.
When it’s difficult to know what to pray it can be most helpful to plug names in prayers in the bible.
Example using Paul’s prayer, Philippians 1:9-11;
Father, my prayer is that your love may abound [my husband] more and more [Bless him] in knowledge and depth of insight, so that he [husbands name] may be able to discern what is best [for our home, marriage, finances…] and [he] may be blameless for the day of Christ, [bless my husband filling him] with fruit if righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ-to the glory and praise of God. [Father may there be power in praying your written word for my husband (or whoever you are praying for) in Philippians 1:9-11. Amen
This prayer can be done with almost any verse and for a loved one and for those you find it most difficult to forgive or love. In fact, I encourage you to pray for those you find it most difficult to pray for. It heals your heart while changing their heart in ways to add blessing to both of your lives.
…what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear to the whole palace guard that I am in chains for Christ. And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and are all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.
When we endure an adversity we can allow our hearts to become hardened or we can use our personal trials to help others. In an adversity are you willing to use your circumstance to help others overcome their trials? If you allow an adversity to advance His kingdom you will receive blessings of peace and joy during that season by advancing the kingdom of God.
For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
- Secular world views include money as power, popularity among men as power, worldly knowledge to be above Spiritual knowledge
- In reality, power is in Christ Phil. 1:20
- Can you say with all that’s in you that to live would be to be in complete peace and joy with Christ fulfilling your inner spirit man? Paul is saying here he feels secure in his eternal destiny and to die is gain because to live eternally with Christ is gain.
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ… Stand firm in one spirit., striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you.
Our trials, circumstances, and adversities are our chance to shine as a light for Christ. Those times are our opportunity to show the world who we represent.
- A time to turn to God and seek Him rather than the secular world and its views for comfort.
- Our trials are an opportunity to build our faith. We can use our trials to grow stronger.
- Trials and adversities serve as our chance to shine with the Holy Spirit in us before men.
- During adversity, when we seek Him we can receive peace and joy that comes from the Holy Spirit within us.
- Don’t forget to praise Him in trials and praise him for the peace and joy, free gifts from The Father. Be grateful for these gifts.
