Focus on what matters. Let go of what doesn’t.

Life is better when you accept the apology you know you’ll never get. Then move forward.

Journal doodles and collage

Journaling doodles and collage.

The truth is: im strong until I’m not.

The things we do, but why?

Why do we do the things we do?

…just because. Collage art and writing in my art journal are the greatest forms of therapy and fun. What do you do on your snow days?

Daughter of a King

Ladies, we were made for so much more. We were born into royalty. Our father is a king. By birthright you have infinite power and wisdom beyond comprehension. Remember this always and lean on his understanding and not your own.

Gooey butter cake

Our travels over the last week we’re to St. Louis. Our daughter visited and during her visit we made St. Louis gooey butter cake.

The recipe in my journal spread was the one I used with a small modification. When I took it out of the oven I drizzled Carmel topping over the cake and let it cool. The first time I had oooey gooey butter cake was a date night with my husband at the Hilton hotel in St. Louis. It was perfect. (The cake and the date.) So I came home and tried to make it myself. I tried three different recipes before I found the one I liked most. It was never quite as good as the first time I had it since the chef said it was his grandmas recipe, it was a secret, and he wasn’t going to share. Tbh, I wouldn’t either! It was amazing. I finally found one I liked and it was close enough for me to enjoy my own St. Louis ooey gooey butter cake. I’ll share mine with you. I hope it’s perfect!

You may be given a cactus but you don’t have to sit on it.

A comment from Joyce Meyer ministries made my whole day. (JournalingArt on Instagram)

If our eyes saw souls.

If only our eyes saw souls instead of bodies, how very different our ideals of humanity would be.

Writing is therapy

On days with pain I love to spend time in our local coffee shop and add collage art and write in my art journal. The best therapy happens with my beats, Mozart, and a tasty frappe. Sometimes my best thoughts and quotes come from these times of writing and creating. What’s your favorite thing to do that helps release stress or pain?

Dream big Art Journaling

Dream big work with diligence and make dreams happen. A good life quote to meditate on for the next month. Add positive quotes and fun doodles with some collage art inside an art journal and have a photo memory book to look back on when you grow old. It will be fun one day to look through all my old art journals. What do you do with your old art journals?

When it Snows

It’s a beautiful winter wonderland outside today. I saw a squirrel digging in our backyard before the rain turned to ice. I love to see the squirrels play in our back yard. We have a large yard and an old farmhouse built in the mid 1800s. Now the ground is covered in a few inches of fluffy snow. A white silhouette of tree branches are visible with grey skies. The snow has stopped and the temperatures have plummeted to single digits.

The aroma of homemade chili has filled the house today. Its been a nice day to sit in our home movie room with a book, create journaling pages and reflectthe things I’m most thankful for with a cup of tea. My husband watched movies as we sit together in the comfort of a cozy home. Our kitty found a cozy spot in my basket I like to use to hold my books.

What do you do on days you have to stay in? Are you thankful for those days? I think they are the perfect time to enjoy time together with family and relax with a book or create something in an art journal. It’s always a good time to reflect on the many blessings in our lives. So many reasons to be thankful. What are you thankful for? Is it family? Health? Pets? Comfort? Security? Or peace in your heart? Love in your life? Take time to reflect the blessings in your life and be thankful.

Happiness is being with you.

When you have your soul mate you don’t need anything else.

Dream more often than you sleep.

She dreams more often than she sleeps. Jonny Ox

Creativity takes courage. Henri Matisse

The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination. Albert Einstein

Bright colors, doodling, and inspiring quotes fill my last pages of my journal for 2017.

The owl represents wisdom and the butterfly represents change and growth. Personal growth is important. Also important, taking authority over your thoughts, your words, and your life. Stay in His word and listen to positive words for a positive life. I always enjoy Joyce Meyer and her teaching.

Relax and Zen Gem

Relax and Zen Gem

Zentangle + Gems = Zengems

Doodling and destressing with Zengems. This one took longer than any of my other sketchbook spreads. It was by far the most relaxing and worth the time. I am excited to share the results of this finished work.

Just Think

Just Think

Just Think

Think for a moment. How would you like someone to treat you? Share love with others and watch the world change by your own acts of kindness toward others. Small acts of kindness change the world. Be the kind of person you would like to see in this world and make a difference for another person. Take a friend a cup of coffee, or the secretary at the office you have an appointment at today. Buy someone lunch or pick up a random persons tab. If you start with small acts of kindness you will begin to feel happiness as well and will move to larger acts of kindness.

2 Cup Mondays

2 Cup Mondays

2 cup Mondays

We all face the same daily struggles with the same enemy. His approach may vary depending on the person, genetics, personality, faith, or lack of but we all face the same devil, just different demons.

Isn’t it a good thing we have Jesus who conquered that crafty enemy. I like to say the Jesus in me is stronger than he who is roaming the earth looking for someone to devour. Honestly, with faith, wisdom, and eyes wide open and two cups of coffee is a cure for Mondays.
